The golf course will be open for walking only today. We made a lot of progress yesterday getting all the water moved and pumped off of primary playing surfaces. We are confident that there will be little to no turf loss after getting the water off of the golf course. The North Branch of the Chicago River also started to go down and helped take much of the water off of the property. There is still plenty to clean up including washouts in bunkers, and debris in the fairways. Staff  began fixing bunkers yesterday and that work will continue until we are finished.

After revaluating, the golf course will remain closed for the day.

Golf Course Closed

After an entire day of rain the golf course will be closed for the day. Several areas on the golf course are flooded and standing water is everywhere. It will take some time for the water to begin to recede. 

After the water goes down it will take staff time to put the golf course back together again, including pushing sand in bunkers.

Almost all fairway bunkers are washed and have standing water in them.

Green side bunker #1

Some green side bunkers are washed, mostly due to surface run off into those bunkers. You can see from the picture above how the Capillary Concrete liners are showing in some areas. We will keep everyone posted about weather or not we will be open tomorrow, and how the golf course drains.

Wednesday (Driving Range Maintenance)

There will be driving range maintenance being completed today. This is our first day on the range this spring so it will take extra time to get everything done. Expect the range to be closed for most of the day. We thank you for your patience.

Due to the warm weather and rain from last week, we are trying to get caught up with all the mowing on the golf course. This week, fairways and approaches will be mowed at least three times. We have also just started mowing rough. We know that the grass is long, and that there are grass clippings EVERYWHERE! Yesterdays rain left much of the golf course with standing water

We received 2.46" of rain yesterday, flooding several areas and holes on the golf course. When we get that much rain in a short period of time our drainage system cannot keep up with that amount of water. As the day goes on the water begins to recede, staff then puts pumps in key areas to move the water a little faster. The golf course will be pretty damp and wet today but much of the standing water has been removed from the playing surfaces.

After receiving just under 2.5" of rain last night the course will be closed until further notice. We will reevaluate at 12:00 p.m.
