Greens Aerification

The front nine will be closed again today to finish greens aerification, the back nine will be open for walking only.

Greens Aerification
Graden machine making a pass on a green
Yesterday kicked off our spring aerification on greens, and we are trying a new process this year. We are demoing "Sand Inject Gradens". These machines verticut the greens and remove unwanted thatch and organic matter. Then in the same motion or pass it infiltrates those lines with sand. Staff then proceeds to clean the green surface removing all of the unwanted debris.

This process will help with our overall greens infiltration by diluting that organic matter layer at the top one inch of our greens. This will in turn make the greens  firmer for better play-ability. The lines you see are created using 2mm blades. If the weather ever warms up, we hope to be healed in a couple of weeks.
